They have started their research on Heroes and plan to write their biographies for second grade readers. In a month or so second graders will read the fifth graders' published works.

Guest Artist Visits Willow Art

In art Willows worked with Guest Artist Carmen Lomas Garza. We worked on cutout on colored tissue paper. Willows were focused, engaged and experimented with her technique.

Carmen is a children's book author as well, and would be happy to sign books. Book Passage in Corte Madera has copies of In My Family (En Mi Familia) and Family Pictures (Cuardos de Familia) in stock. They will donate a portion of every purchase to MCDS!
Pick up the books in the store, or order online by following these links:

Honoring Martin Luther King, jr.

Today some eighth graders came to lead us in a discussion about the life and work of Martin Luther King, jr. In small groups Willows made signs that they will carry on our March next Friday morning.

Raising the Roof

We have fully moved into Old Town Willow. The citizens have furnished their homes, helped the children of the broken down "Orphan Train," protected a new tree, traded wares and found ways to entertain all the children in town. Town Meetings have been productive and lively discussions.

My Favorite Marsh

Our January 9th field trip we learned about the importance of the marsh and the role it plays in our environment. It was an engaging, hands-on experience for all! And it was a beautiful day!!
